  • Level : Graduate, with 12 to 18 months of B2B sales experience
  • Location : Central London Office + Travel
  • Salary : Up to £38,000 + uncapped commission
  • Events : One or two launch events per year across Europe and the USA, each attracting thousands of attendees

The opportunity

Our client is a well established global B2B events business with offices across four continents, and events running in more than 20 countries every year. Their events are large scale, each attracting thousands of senior attendees. Their tech and digital infrastructure brand is launching new events across Europe and the USA and they are looking to expand their sponsorship sales team to support this growth.

They are looking for an ambitious early career salesperson to join the team selling sponsorship and exhibition packages. You will focus on one, possibly two, launch events per year. This means you get to know your market inside out, build genuine relationships with your clients, and play a real part in shaping a brand new event from the ground up.

Why a career in B2B events sponsorship sales?

  • You sell something people value. Sponsors come to events to meet their customers face to face, launch products and build their brand. You are selling real business outcomes.
  • You become a market expert. Within months you will understand the tech and digital infrastructure sector, its key players and its challenges, and clients will see you as a trusted partner.
  • You see the results of your work. There are very few sales roles where you can walk the event floor and see your clients’ stands, speakers and branding come to life.
  • Your earning potential is strong. Good sponsorship sellers are well rewarded, and the skills you build are highly sought after across the global events industry.
  • The career path is clear. Many of today’s commercial directors and MDs in B2B events started in exactly this kind of role.

What you will be doing

  • Sourcing new clients through a mix of inbound and outbound leads – email marketing, database, LinkedIn, competitor events and market research etc
  • Taking clients through the full sales process, from discovery and presentation through to closing
  • Writing tailored proposals that show clients how the event meets their business goals
  • Negotiating and closing deals
  • Meeting and exceeding your KPIs and revenue targets
  • Managing and keeping your sales pipeline up to date
  • Keeping the CRM accurate and using the latest technology to work more efficiently
  • Using LinkedIn to build your profile and promote the event to your market
  • Meeting clients both in person and on screen
  • Attending industry events and your own events onsite
  • Working closely with colleagues in production, marketing and event operations to share insight and make each event the best it can be
  • Taking part in structured long term sales training to develop your skills

What we are looking for

  • A graduate with around 12 to 18 months of B2B sales experience, ideally from recruitment, media sales or tech solutions sales
  • Someone who now wants to build a sales career within a B2B events business
  • Confidence in a B2B solutions led, consultative sales approach
  • Driven by targets, with a track record of meeting or exceeding KPIs
  • Excellent communication skills, both written and verbal
  • Strong organisation and the ability to manage your own pipeline
  • Confidence using the latest technology and AI tools to improve your sales process
  • Comfortable meeting senior clients in person and over video
  • A team player with a strong work ethic
  • A proactive, positive, glass half full attitude
  • Likes the idea of taking on a project from its inception and being part of the growth story, leading on sales.

What our client offers

  • A trusted, long established brand in the tech and telecoms sector
  • Genuine international opportunity, with events and clients across Europe and the USA
  • Real ownership of launch events and the chance to build something from the start
  • A merit based culture where performance is recognised and rewarded
  • Structured sales training and a clear route to progression
  • Broad suite of benefits that support you throughout your career

What does a sponsorship sales executive do at a B2B events company?

A sponsorship sales executive sells sponsorship and exhibition packages to companies who want to meet their customers, launch products and build their brand at an event. The role covers finding new clients, running the sales process from discovery to close, writing proposals and negotiating deals.

Do I need events experience to apply for this role?

No. Our client is looking for around 12 to 18 months of B2B sales experience from areas such as recruitment, media sales or tech solutions sales. Full sales training is provided.

Why is B2B events sales a good career move?

B2B events sales offers strong earning potential, the chance to become an expert in an industry, and a clear career path. Many commercial directors and MDs in the events industry started in sponsorship sales.

What are launch events and why are they a good opportunity?

Will I travel?

What salary can I expect?

Up to £38,000 Base + Commission
