{"id":7164,"date":"2025-05-30T11:11:02","date_gmt":"2025-05-30T11:11:02","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.jbrecruitment.co.uk\/?p=7164"},"modified":"2025-05-30T11:20:23","modified_gmt":"2025-05-30T11:20:23","slug":"poll-results-vs-real-talk-whats-really-driving-job-moves-in-b2b-events-right-now","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.jbrecruitment.co.uk\/poll-results-vs-real-talk-whats-really-driving-job-moves-in-b2b-events-right-now\/","title":{"rendered":"Poll Results vs. Real Talk: What\u2019s Really Driving Job Moves in B2B Events Right Now?"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>Earlier this week, I ran a poll on LinkedIn asking one simple question: <strong><em>If you had to choose just ONE thing that matters most to you at work right now, what would it be?<\/em><\/strong><\/p>\n<p>The results so far:<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li><strong>Money<\/strong> \u2013 44%<\/li>\n<li><strong>Stability<\/strong> \u2013 26%<\/li>\n<li><strong>Culture<\/strong> \u2013 16%<\/li>\n<li><strong>Progression<\/strong> \u2013 14%<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>On the surface, this data paints a clear picture: money leads. And that makes sense in today\u2019s climate &#8211; with rising costs and shifting salary expectations, compensation is top of mind for many.<\/p>\n<p>But here&#8217;s what\u2019s interesting: what I hear in interviews often tells a different story.<\/p>\n<p>When I speak with candidates, especially those actively looking to move, they rarely cite money as the main reason they\u2019re leaving their current role, yes it\u2019s in the mix but not the front runner. More often, it comes down to <strong>lack of progression<\/strong> and <strong>poor culture fit<\/strong>.<\/p>\n<p>They&#8217;re saying things like:<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li><em>\u201cThere\u2019s nowhere for me to go here.\u201d<\/em><\/li>\n<li><em>\u201cThe culture has changed and I don\u2019t feel aligned anymore.\u201d<\/em><\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>What I haven\u2019t heard (at all in recent weeks) is anyone prioritising <em>stability<\/em>. And that\u2019s surprising, given how often we assume job security is the safety net people are clinging to in uncertain times.<\/p>\n<p>So, what does this all mean?<\/p>\n<p>Well, maybe people are choosing \u201cmoney\u201d in polls because it\u2019s the most tangible answer. It\u2019s easy to say. It\u2019s easy to justify. But in reality, once we\u2019re in conversation, and people feel safe to be honest, the drivers are more personal: feeling stuck, feeling disconnected, wanting purpose or momentum.<\/p>\n<p>It also raises a question for me as a recruiter: <strong>Am I probing deeply enough during registration calls?<\/strong> Are candidates defaulting to \u201cbetter pay\u201d as their reason for moving because it\u2019s easier than unpacking a more complex truth?<\/p>\n<p>Either way, I\u2019m not judging. Job moves are rarely about one thing, even if polls force us to pick just one. But if you&#8217;re thinking about your next move, or even trying to improve retention in your current team, it&#8217;s worth asking: <em>Is this really about the salary?
