Basic Salary up to £35K + Commission

Our client is a well-respected conference organiser in the international energy sector. They have been successfully growing and developing their business & events over recent years and have an extremely positive outlook for 2019. Currently hiring an experienced sponsorship sales professional into a newly created position as a Business Development Manager.

The job

The Business Development Manager will work as part of an established & growing events sales team and be responsible for developing sponsorship & exhibition revenues across the conference portfolio, manage existing accounts, winning new business and creating & maintaining excellent customer relationships.

  • New business & Account management - Identifying and approaching new clients and develop existing client relationships
  • Selling high value sponsorship opportunities & exhibition space at a leading conferences & Exhibitions.
  • Developing a thorough understanding of the market place via research, networking and securing / conducting meetings with key players in the industry.
  • You will attend events & meetings to develop your network and client base; travelling overseas when necessary.
  • Establishing & developing high-level relationships with key customers
  • Meeting agreed sales targets
  • Managing the entire sales cycle
  • Producing reports with recommendations
  • Visiting clients on a regular basis
  • Attending events and work effectively with the team on-site to ensure smooth running of the events and looking after clients

The person

To be considered for this Business Development Manager position you will ideally be educated to degree level, must have solid & successful track record in commercial conferences sponsorship & exhibition sales and have both new business & account development/management experience. In addition, we are looking for an ambitious sales professional with:

  • To have a good long-term strategic mindset
  • Good understanding of the conference sales
  • Excellent communication skills (written & verbal)
  • Confident and persuasive telephone manner
  • Russian language skills would be advantageous

This Business Development Manager position requires international travel (client meetings & attending events).


To confirm the focus for this role is to build client relationships, sell high value sponsorship opportunities & exhibition space for B2B events and develop a long term career within a growing events business.
