We are recruiting an additional Business Development Manager to join the growing London office of our global events client. This is a great opportunity for an ambitious Graduate with commercial sales experience, to develop a long term international career in the events industry.


The Job

This newly created Business Development Manager position sits within a growing portfolio of UK & overseas conferences which attract up to 4,000+ people. The Business Development Manager will play a key role in the growth of sponsors and exhibitors and the division as a whole. You will be responsible for identifying and developing new & existing business opportunities with a broad range of corporate companies. This sales role will be varied, fast paced and very rewarding.


Main responsibilities for the Business Development Manager:

  • Generate sponsorship leads through research, cold calling, email marketing, networking
  • In-depth research into the communities and locations where conferences are held and the businesses that could be potential sponsors
  • Be active on social media to research and generate new leads
  • Develop, maintain and expand relationships with clients across the global industry
  • Build your own portfolio of clients, leading to future account management opportunities
  • Contribute innovative and creative ideas to build exciting packages for sponsors
  • Manage and update Salesforce
  • Support clients on-site at events to help deliver outstanding client satisfaction
  • General sponsorship administration


The Person

It would be ideal if you had at least one year of sales experience in a comparable sales environment, but this is not essential.

  • Bright, ambitious Graduate with a 2:1 or 1st degree
  • Ideally 12-18 months previous sales experience in a similar environment such as; recruitment, IT sales, media sales or events
  • Excited at the thought of a career in sponsorship sales and the events industry
  • Confident with conversations on the phone and face-to-face with senior business professionals
  • Comfortable generating leads from new business able to work proactively & innovatively
  • Happy working to targets
  • Naturally self-motivated, positive, enthusiastic, highly ambitious and dynamic
  • Well organised and able to prioritise tasks and manage your time efficiently
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills
  • A quick learner - with a genuine interest in technology and business trends
  • Motivated to build strong relationships with the team and clients
  • Hard working, determined and team orientated  


The events

The topics our client covers in their events are broad; from energy to marketing. The event formats are interesting and varied, they include a mix of: conference (up to 400 speakers), up to 150 exhibition booths, networking sessions, pre-arranged meetings, workshops, event socials (dinner, party, drinks), VIP service, etc. The conferences provide latest industry information, business solutions, innovation and the opportunity to network with senior level business professionals from relevant organisations.
