Basic salary up to £24k + Uncapped Commission


An opportunity to join the conference & exhibitions industry as a Business Development Executive. You will be responsible for selling delegate passes, exhibition space and sponsorship

opportunities for a series of high profile tech events.


This start-up events business has been established a year and have already successfully delivered innovative large scale & smaller niche events for the tech industry. This is an exciting time to join the business, with flagship events up and running, new launch events prepared for 2019.


The role

Working as part of the sales team together you will generate revenue across a series of large scale events which attract between 500-1500 attendees and a broad range of corporate sponsors plus smaller niche events created to meet specific client needs. The Business Development Executive will work alongside 2 experienced event sales professionals to drive revenue across the events.

  • The aim of this role is to identify & research new businesses who may benefit from sponsoring, exhibiting or attending one of the events.
  • You will generate leads and start to build relationships with new clients and pitch the best possible solution to promote their business or attend the events.
  • You will be expected to be on the phone and out on meetings (with support if needed)
  • Responsible for developing a thorough understanding of the market place via research, networking and securing / conducting meetings with key players in the industry.
  • Work to agreed targets for each event and manage your sales pipeline autonomously

The ideal candidate

  • A smart, bright and ambitious professional
  • Ideally educated to degree level
  • An excellent sales person - Ideally you will have spent 6-18 months in a sales position such as: recruitment, IT sales, ad sales or sponsorship sales, etc…
  • Strong research, telephone & face to face communication skills
  • Able to identify new contacts and use your initiative to generate your own leads
  • Ambitious, articulate, and able to write
  • You will need to be presentable and confident in client meetings
  • Organised, self motivated and excellent time management
  • Will be looking to grow their career with an expanding events company
